Applications are invited for

  1. Original Research Award for the Best MD/DNB Pediatrics Thesis

   This award is for candidates who submitted their thesis in the year 2023. DNB students are also eligible. Fourcandidates will be    shortlisted and top two will be awarded [1st Award Rs. 7,000; 2nd Award Rs. 6,000(plus a Certificate of merit for all)]. Some submissions will be selected for poster presentation and the best Poster presentation will be awardedRs. 5000.

    2. Original Research Award for the Best DM/DrNB (Pediatric specialties) Thesis

This award is for candidates who submitted their thesis in the year 2023. Four candidates will be shortlistedand top two will be awarded [1st Award Rs. 7,000; 2nd Award Rs. 6,000 (plus a Certificate of merit for all)]. Some submissions will be selected for poster presentation and the best Poster presentation will be awardedRs. 50.

3.   Best Competitive Grand Round in Pediatrics 

This award is to select the best Senior Residents. Four institutions will be shortlisted on basis of the

submissions. Two Senior Residents from an institution will present a Grand Round on interesting case/cases. There will be two awards, Rs. 25,000 for the 1st award and Rs. 20,000 for the 2nd award.

4. Grants for Carrying out Research for Postgraduate MD or DM Thesis in Pediatrics in India

In this scheme funds will be provided to postgraduates to help them carry out research for their thesis. The grant can be used for the purchase of kits, reagents &chemicals and conducting laboratory tests & investigations. The application must be forwarded by the thesis guide. Six grants of upto a maximum Rs. 75,000 each are available in a year.

5. Grants for Training of Faculty/Assistant Professors in India

Young Faculty Members (Assistant Professors/Lecturers) who are interested in getting training in any Pediatric specialty from any institution in India can apply. Four grants of maximumRs. 75,000 each are available.

  6. Travel Grant for Attending Medical Conferences to Present a Paper

Five grants in a year are available.Postgraduate students/ Senior Residents/ Fellows/ Junior Faculty are eligible to 

apply. Total grant not to exceed Rs. 40,000 per candidate.

7. Pediatric Medical Camps in Rural Areas for Improving Child Health

Five grants of Rs. 40,000 each are available per year.

8. CMEs in Pediatrics in Smaller Towns

Five grants of Rs. 2 Lakh each are available in a year.

    For Awards 1-3, the last date of submission of application is 30th June, 2024.

Original Research Awards for Best MD/DNB Pediatrics Thesis 2024

Applications are invited for the Best Thesis Awards for the MD/DNB (Pediatrics Postgraduates). Candidates eligible for the award are those who have submitted their thesis in the year 2023, and the same has been approved by their university.

Important guidelines:

  • Thesis should have been submitted to concerned university in the year 2023 and approved by the university.
  • Candidate has to submit a paper based on thesis work for consideration for the award. The paper should be in the format of original article in style of IJP (please see instruction to authors), running to maximum 2500 words with not more than 30 references.
  • There should be a one-page summary in 500 words stating why the thesis research deserves the award.
  • The Head of the Department should certify that the work is of the candidate and that the thesis has been accepted by the institute/ university.
  • It is recommended, although not mandatory, that the awardees publish the research work in “Indian Journal of Pediatrics”.
  • Top 12 thesis will be given preference for publication as original articles in the journal.
  • There is no limit to the number of students who can apply from a department/ institution.

Four candidates will be shortlisted and invited along with their chief guides to present their work at the time of Dr. K. C. Chaudhuri Oration 2024 to be held on 6th October, 2024.

Each candidate will be given 10 minutes to present the study and 2 minutes for answering queries of the judges. Expenses for travel and stay of the candidates and their respective guides will be covered by IJP. The final selection will be made by the judges after the presentations.

Two awards will be given.

Awards for the Best Competitive Grand Round in Pediatrics 2024

Applications are invited for the Competitive Grand Rounds (CGR) by Senior Residents (Post MD or DNB Residents) from different institutions in India. The aim of this activity is to prepare the Senior Residents for leadership role in pediatric research and academic career.

Format: Two Senior Residents from an institution will be given 15 minutes for the presentation of the Grand Round on an interesting case/ cases followed by review and clear educational message. They will be allotted 5 minutes for answering the queries of the judges. Only two Senior Residents should present from each institution.

Institutions that wish to participate are requested to submit a one-page summary of their presentation, along with the names of the Senior Residents who will make the presentations. The submissions will be judged for their clinical importance, originality, interest to the audience of pediatricians and teaching potential. The Senior Residents should also submit a copy of their CV, as their contributions to pediatrics will also be considered.

Selection process: Four institutions will be shortlisted on the basis of the summaries submitted. The teams will make oral presentations at the time of Dr. K. C. Chaudhuri Oration 2024 to be held on 6th October, 2024.

The IJP will reimburse travel and accommodation expenses for the two Senior Residents and one mentor from all the 4 selected institutions.

Awards:  There will be two awards, Rs. 25,000 for the 1st award (Rs. 10,000 for the institution and Rs. 15,000 for the presenters); and Rs. 20,000 for the 2nd award (Rs. 8,000 for the institution and Rs. 12,000 for the presenters).

Grants for Carrying out Research for Postgraduate MD or DM Thesis in Pediatrics in India – 2024

Applications are invited from postgraduates doing research for thesis in pediatrics or pediatric super- specialties for financial support to help them carry out research for their thesis. This scheme is to support postgraduates from India only. The applicant should submit a certificate that the thesis has been approved by the scientific committee and cleared by the ethics committee of the host institution. The application must be forwarded by the thesis guide. The grant can be used for the purchase of kits, reagents & chemicals and conducting laboratory tests & investigations. The guide / supervisor has to give a commitment that a utilization certificate will be submitted. 

Six grants of up to a maximum of Rs. 75,000 each, are available for year 2024. Submitted applications will be assessed three times a year.

Out of total approved grant, 75% will be given as advance and rest 25% will be released after submission of utilization certificate by the guide. It is mandatory that the thesis be published in IJP. Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be summarily rejected.

Travel Grant for Attending Medical Conferences to Present a Paper – 2024

  1. Five grants are available for attending medical conferences—1 or 2 for conferences held between Apr–Sep and 3 or 4 for conferences held between Oct–Mar. 
  2. The applications should reach us 3 months prior to the conference. lncomplete applications will not be considered and will be summarily rejected. 
  3. Postgraduate students/ Senior Residents/ Fellows/ Junior Faculty are eligible to apply. 
  4. Travel only within India will be covered.
  5. Grant will cover journey to and fro, registration fee and limited local expenses. The grant will not exceed Rs. 40,000 per candidate.
  6. Applicant should submit a copy of the research paper to be presented at the conference, along with the letter of acceptance by the conference organizers.
  7. The application should be forwarded through the Head of the Department along with a letter certifying that the applicant is not being supported by any other source.
  8. Applicant should explain in 200 words why he/she deserves the grant.
  9. The awardee should later on submit a copy of bills and attendance certificate.
  10. The awardee should acknowledge at the end of his presentation that it has been partly supported by IJP and a report on the same should be submitted.

Grants for Holding Pediatric Medical Camps for Improving Child Health – 2024

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics supports Medical Camps for children in smaller towns and /or rural areas. If you would like to conduct a medical camp for children, we would be happy to provide financial aid.

Five grants are available: 1-2 after every four months. The application should reach us at least 6 months before the scheduled date of event. lncomplete applications will not be considered and will be summarily rejected.

For this purpose, you have to send us an application in the enclosed format, providing details about the medical camp activities. Kindly provide us estimate of the Budget. A maximum of Rs. 40,000 per grant will be provided. 50% of the grant will be given as advance after approval and rest 50% will be released after submission of expenditure details, bills, photos, etc. of the camp. A banner stating that the camp has been supported by IJP should be placed at the site. It is mandatory to submit a report of the camp supported. A representative from IJP will be attending the camp.

Preference will be given to camps in rural or underprivileged areas.
