Original Research Award for the Best Thesis by Postgraduates – 2019
Applications are invited for the Best Thesis Awards for the MD Postgraduates, 2019. Candidates eligible for the award are those who submitted their thesis in 2019, and the same has been approved by their university. The thesis submitted by DNB students would also be eligible.

Important guidelines

  • The paper should be in format of original article (in style of IJP, please see instruction to authors) running to maximum 2500-3000 words with not more than 30 references. 
  • There should be a one page summary stating why the thesis deserves the award. 
  • The Head of the Department should certify that the work is of the candidate and that the thesis has been accepted by the institute/ university.
  • It is recommended, although not mandatory, that the awardees publish the research work in “Indian Journal of Pediatrics”.
  • Top 12 thesis will be given preference for publication as original articles in the journal.
  • There is no limit to the number of students who can apply from a department/ institution.

Six candidates will be shortlisted and invited along with their chief guides to present their work at the time of Dr. K. C. Chaudhuri Oration, 2019 to be held in September, 2019. Each candidate will be given 10 minutes to present the study and 2 minutes for answering queries of the judges. Expenses for travel and stay of the candidates and their respective guides will be covered by IJP. The final selection will be made by the judges after the presentations.

Award for the Best Grand Round in Pediatrics by Senior Residents - 2019

Applications are invited for the Competitive Grand Rounds by Senior Residents (Post MD or DNB Residents) from different institutions in India. This will be held in September 2019 alongwith the Dr. K. C. Chaudhuri Oration. The main aim of this activity is to prepare the Senior Residents for leadership role in pediatric research and academic career.

The format will be that two Senior Residents from an institution will be given 20 minutes for presentation of the Grand Round on an interesting case/ cases followed by review and a clear educational messages. They will be allotted 5 minutes for answering to the queries of the judges. Two Senior Residents should present from each institution.

Institutions that wish to participate are requested to submit one page summary of what they will be presenting; along with the names of the Senior Residents who will make the presentations. The submissions will be judged for their clinical importance, originality and teaching potential. They should also submit a copy of their CV, as their contributions to pediatrics will also be considered.

Selection process: Four institutions will be shortlisted on basis of the summaries submitted. They will make oral presentations in September 2019 (The exact date will be announced later).

The IJP will reimburse travel and accommodation expenses for the two Senior residents and one faculty member from all the 4 selected institutions.

Awards: There will be two awards, Rs. 25,000 for the 1st award (Rs. 10,000 for the institution and Rs. 15,000 for the presenters); and Rs. 20,000 for the 2nd award (Rs. 8,000 for the institution and Rs. 12,000 for the presenters).

IJP TRAVEL GRANT FOR ATTENDING MEDICAL CONFERENCES TO PRESENT A PAPER

Six grants in a year are available; Three national and three dedicated to a specific state: One from North-East India; one from Bihar/ Orissa/ Madhya Pradesh; one from Rajasthan/ Gujarat/ Punjab.

The applications should reach us 8 weeks prior to the conference.

Postgraduate students/ Senior Residents/ Fellows/ Junior Faculty are eligible to apply.

Grant will cover journey to and fro, registration fee (early bird only) and limited local expenses. Total expenditure not to exceed Rs. 20,000 per candidate.

Applicant should submit a copy of the research paper to be presented at the conference, along with the letter of acceptance by the conference organizers.

The application should be forwarded through the Head of the Department along with a letter certifying that the applicant is not being supported by any other source.

Applicant should explain in 200 words why he/she deserves the grant.

Applicant should later on submit a copy of bills and attendance certificate.

Applicant should acknowledge at the end of his presentation that it has been partly supported by IJP and a report on the same should be submitted.

Visiting Professorships

In this scheme funds will be provided to invite a Professor from an institution outside your city to come and spend 3 days for lectures, clinical teaching and take interactive sessions with the students. Cost of travel and stay upto maximum Rs. 20,000/- will be covered. A certificate will be provided by IJP to the visiting professor. This scheme is to cover visits of professors from India only. A banner stating that the activity has been supported by IJP should be placed at the site of lectures. It is mandatory to submit a report of the activity supported.

Three grants of maximum Rs. 20,000 each are available: One in each quarter (Jan – April; May – August; Sept. – Dec.). The applications should reach us 6 weeks before the event.

GRANTS FOR TRAINING OF FACULTY / ASSISTANT PROFESSORS IN INDIA

Applications are invited from young faculty members / Assistant Professors who are interested in getting training in any Pediatric specialty from any institution in India. This scheme is to cover training of faculty members / Assistant professors from India only. The applicant should submit a certificate that the host institution has agreed to provide him the training.

Two grants of maximum Rs. 50,000 each are available in an year: Once every 6 months (Jan – June; July –Dec.). The grant will be released on submission of expenditure details, bills, photos etc. The applications should reach us 6 weeks before the event. It is mandatory to submit a report on the outcome of the training.

GRANTS FOR HOLDING PEDIATRIC MEDICAL CAMPS

The Indian Journal of Pediatrics plans to support Medical Camps for children in smaller towns and /or rural areas. If you would like to conduct a Medical Camp for children, we would be happy to provide financial aid. Four grants are available: One in each quarter (Jan – March; April – June; July – Sept.; Oct. – Dec.). The application should reach us 6 weeks before the quarter.

For this purpose you have to send us an application in the enclosed format, providing details about the Medical Camp activities. Kindly provide us estimate of the Budget. A maximum of Rs. 20,000 per grant will be provided on submission of expenditure details, bills, photos, etc. of the Camp. A banner stating that the Camp has been supported by IJP should be placed at the site. It is mandatory to submit a report of the Camp supported. A representative from IJP will be attending the Camp.

Preference will be given to Camps in rural or underprivileged areas.
